Voltly is a social content platform where people discover ideas together. We've tried to create a privacy policy that's clear and easy to read. If you have any questions about our policy, or things you think we could improve, please let us know by email at hello@voltly.app.

How do we use your information?

When you sign up to use Voltly, we'll collect your name, email address, username, Phone number, dateof birth and profile picture to set up your account. We collect this information to make it easier for you to open your account, and so that we can meet our obligations under the contract we enter with you to use Voltly.

You can do lots of different things in Voltly, such as sharing content with your thoughts or saving content to your Voltly account and when you do, you might be providing us with personal information. We collect this information from you as you use the product, so that we can provide you with the service.

Everyone on Voltly has a profile. Your profile contains details like your username, name and profile photo.

If you choose to buy or subscribe to paid services that we offer, we'll also collect your billing information including card details, invoice address, and billing address. We do this so that we can meet our obligations under the contract we enter with you to use Voltly.

When you contact us either by phone, email, or via social media with general queries, we'll usually collect your name, social media handle, and contact details. We collect this information under our legitimate interest to make sure we can properly respond to your query.

If you've opted in, we'll use your personal information (such as your name and email address) to send you news and updates by email. We'll provide these updates in line with the preferences you've chosen in your account settings. We'll only send you these emails when we have your consent. You can unsubscribe from our updates at any time by adjusting your preferences in your account settings or clicking on the unsubscribe link at the bottom of our update emails.

We keep an eye on Voltly to make sure it's fast, secure, and reliable. We also need to understand how you and others use Voltly, so that we can improve the service and develop new product features. For these reasons, we'll collect information on how you use Voltly. This includes technical information such as your IP address, browser information, and MAC address. Where possible, we take steps and precautions (such as removing information that may identify you) before we access and process this information.

When you attend one of our events or we meet you at a third party event, we may collect your name, address, email address and phone number. At our own events, we collect this information because it's in our legitimate interests to know who's attending, and to send you updates and reminders (where applicable). At third party events, we collect this information because it's in our legitimate interests to promote our business, and to follow up with you after the event. For instance, we might send you more information about our job openings if we were to meet at a careers fair.

If in the future Voltly is acquired by another company, we'll process your personal information under our legitimate interest to continue to provide services to you after the purchase has been completed. If you object to our use of your personal information in this way, the buyer of our business may not be able to provide services to you.

Who do we share your data with?

When you interact with other users on Voltly, we'll share your personal information with them, such as your profile photo and name, so that they can see who you are. We'll also share your personal information with people who don't use Voltly if you choose to invite them. We do this under our legitimate interests to make sure that Voltly works well, and to make sure that we can meet your reasonable expectations for a social content product.

Business partners, suppliers, engineers and subcontractors in order to provide you with the Voltly service, and so that we can meet our contractual obligations.

Regulators, Authorities, and Enforcement Agencies. Whenever we're approached by law enforcement and we're required to share your personal information to meet our legal obligations, we'll always protect your personal information by making sure that everybody follows due process.

We may share your personal information:

when we're required to do so by law (for example, under a warrant);

when we need to in order to apply or enforce our terms of use, or other agreements;

when we need to in order to protect your rights, property, or safety, or that of others; or

where we suspect somebody is using Voltly to commit fraud or other crime.

In the event of an acquisition, whichever company acquires Voltly. We may share personal information with them under our legitimate interest to ensure our business can be continued by the buyer.

Where is my information stored?

We store your information in the United Kingdom, and the European Union. Before we store your information, we encrypt it with strong industry-standard ciphers. Whenever we transfer your personal information outside of the UK and the EU, we make sure it receives additional protection as required by law. How long do we keep your information?

We'll keep your personal information for as long as your account is open. We may keep your information for longer if we need to for legal, regulatory, or accounting reasons. Sometimes, before deleting your personal information, we'll anonymise it so that we can no longer tell it's you. We can keep hold of this anonymised information indefinitely without letting you know. We'll use this anonymised information to keep track of how people have used Voltly in the past.

Your rights under data protection laws

You have other rights under applicable information protection laws. This includes the right to:

access your personal information. You can make a subject access request;

correct incomplete or inaccurate information we hold about you. Most of the time, you'll be able to make any corrections you need in your account settings. If you are having trouble correcting something – you can get in touch with us for help;

ask us to delete the personal information we hold about you;

ask us to restrict our handling of your personal information;

ask us to transfer your personal information to a third party;

object to how we are using your personal information; and

withdraw your consent to us handling your personal information. If you'd like to withdraw your consent, you'll need to close your Voltly account.

You also have the right to send a complaint to the supervisory authority in your region. You can find which one applies to you here.
